ANGUS TO STRIKE DIAMOND JUBILEE COMMITTEE: Celebrating Our Real Heroes
Do you want to nominate someone for the Diamond Jubilee Medal? If so, Charlie Angus is setting up regional committees to select citizens for this historic honour. Angus says 30 recipients will be chosen from across the region of Timmins-James Bay. He says the focus will be on those unsung heroes, young and older, who are working to improve the lives of people in the region.
“We will honour those who have given, or contributed to the betterment of our communities.”
Angus says he is looking to set up committees for the areas of Timmins (and north) as well as Kirkland Lake-Temiskaming.
"There will be so many good candidates from which to choose. This is why I am looking to establish independent committees to go over the nominated candidates and ensure that we make the most of this great opportunity."
Angus says there are plenty of deserving citizens in Timmins-James Bay. “There are so many great people who give tirelessly of themselves to improve the lives of people in our region. These are people who don't look for recognition -- they just get down and do the work. Let's celebrate these people and let's tell their stories."
All nominations must be submitted before December 31st, with all medals to be presented before February 28th of next year. All medals must be pre-approved by the Governor General’s office Chancellery of Honours.
